September 6 is officially JaVale McGee day. Well, at least in Flint, Michigan.

As the 2017-18 season approaches, Warriors center JaVale McGee is staying in shape by playing pick-up. We know this because McGee has been posting his highlights on Twitter, complete with his stats and a fire soundtrack.

The band is getting back together. With their 15th and final roster spot, it appears the Warriors are bringing back a familiar face as ESPN is reporting they will re-sign center JaVale McGee.

According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, McGee is holding out for a sizable contact on the open market, as opposed to the veterans minimum, somewhere between $2 and $3 million per year, that Golden State can offer.

With 14 spots filled and one final roster spot remaining for the Warriors, the Dubs will likely fill that hole with their last remaining need, a backup center.

Center JaVale McGee is unhappy with how the Warriors have handled his situation in free agency, according to a report.

The Warriors re-signed Stephen Curry to a super-max contract, and also brought back free agents Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and David West on new deals. One player that the defending champions have not re-signed yet is center JaVale McGee, whose value on the free agent market remains uncertain.

When you have a handful of the best players of the last decade squaring off against each other, it certainly makes it harder for the lesser known individual players to grab the spotlight.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin said on a podcast Tuesday that an unnamed Cavaliers player told him JaVale McGee wouldn’t be able to stay on the court or maybe even get on the court because he’s “not smart enough.”
