With Madison Bumgarner and Jeff Samardzija both expected to miss at least the first month of the season with late-spring injuries, the Giants are left to change their strategy for 2018.
Less than a week before Opening Day, Madison Bumgarner was forced to exit Friday’s exhibition against Kansas City, after taking a hard comebacker off his throwing hand. Bumgarner reportedly did not waive off the trainer and exited the game immediately. Bumgarner’s status is unknown at this time
After Thursday night’s victory over the Chicago Cubs, Bruce Bochy said Jeff Samardzija suffered a strain in his right pectoral muscle and won’t be able to throw for the next 10 days.
