Joe Panik is back on a baseball field, albeit in a limited capacity. Before the Giants took on the A’s at the Coliseum in the second half of this year’s Bay Bridge Series, Panik took batting practice and fielded ground balls.

The sting from a brutal injury bug has alleviated recently, but the Giants still enter Tuesday without their starting third baseman, second baseman, and closer.

Panik will be missing some time, which should lead to an increased role for Austin Slater.

Behind a rookie and a couple veterans, the Giants got back in the win column.
