With the absence of their superstar in Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs needed All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge to step up if they wanted to give themselves a viable opportunity to steal a win on the road in games one and two. Aldridge was not up to the task, registering a combined plus minus differential of -34 between the two contests.
“Bigs are not used to being out on the perimeter and guarding guys on the perimeter,” Durant said. “So that whole thing is to kind of give you space so when you pull up, they just contest. That’s just part of the game.”
