He hits for average, he hits for power, he’s got speed, arm strength and a nice glove, too. His name is Heliot Ramos, and he’s the newest member of the San Francisco Giants. On Monday evening, the Giants selected Ramos with the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, inviting the 17-year-old Puerto Rican outfielder to join an organization in need of more homegrown talent.

6-foot-5, 250-pound grown men aren’t accustomed to taking baby steps, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise Giants’ left-hander Madison Bumgarner is making significant progress in his recovery from a shoulder sprain.

The San Francisco Giants could become sellers by Major League Baseball’s trade deadline, but on Tuesday evening, the franchise entered the market as buyers. The organization added to its bullpen depth by trading for Texas Rangers’ right-hander Sam Dyson, a sixth-year veteran struggling through the worst season of his professional career.

“He’s going to come back earlier than people think. I know that they want him to have x amount of innings and appearances before he comes back. He’s doing a lot of work. He told us earlier when this [injury] happened, that he was definitely a quick healer and that he might bounce back from this and be ok. So far he hasn’t been wrong.”

When Madison Bumgarner went on the DL after his dirt biking accident in April, it seemed like plenty of doom and gloom was in store for the Giants. With a four-time All-Star shaped hole left in the pitching lineup, the Giants were forced to insert former fifth round draft pick Ty Blach into the starting rotation. Will it obviously hurts the Giants to not have Bumgarner out their on the mound, his injury has been giving a silver lining due to Blach’s stellar play so far this season.

After an extremely disappointing start to the season, the Giants are finally starting to show some promise. After getting demolished by the Cincinnati Reds last week in a 3-game set with a combined score over the 3 games of 31-5, the Giants came back and took 3 of 4 from the Reds this weekend. The Giants begin a pivotal three game set against the Dodgers on Monday that will show how much momentum they garnered from the Reds series.

ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian joined The Audible on Thursday morning and said the Giants should break the bank for Madison Bumgarner despite his dirt-bike accident

OAKLAND – This one might have been a little too soon for Giants fans liking.

The Giants have confirmed that Madison Bumgarner did in fact tear his AC joint in his left shoulder during his dirt bike accident in Denver, Colorado. According to Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group, that means Bumgarner will be out of the starting rotation for at least three more months.

“Four or five days (Bumgarner will) start some real light work,” said Bochy. “It’s going to be slow at first. Nothing major. Things are starting to calm down a little bit.”
