NFL Network draft expert Daniel Jeremiah joined Murph & Mac on Tuesday morning, and threw out an interesting name when asked who the 49ers might take if Smith isn’t an option.
Playing for the franchise right up the road from his alma mater, while learning firsthand from Richard Sherman, would be a ‘dream come true,’ according to cornerback Quenton Meeks.
The 49ers are designated up to 30 meetings with out-of-area prospects in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft. Eight players have reportedly scheduled visits to Santa Clara, including some of the top prospects.
After previously predicting the 49ers will select Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward, ESPN draft insider Todd McShay now believes San Francisco is most likely to select a Virginia Tech outside linebacker with the ninth overall pick, in his Mock Draft 3.0 released Wednesday.
With only one receiver on their roster gaining more than 500 yards last season, the San Francisco 49ers will likely target a pass-catcher in the NFL Draft, and possibly in free agency as well.
