After months of rumors, it looks like Marshawn Lynch will be joining his hometown Oakland Raiders in 2017. Lynch took to Twitter shortly after the news broke, paying his respects to the Seattle fanbase, but expressing excitement to play in his hometown.
It appears the other shoe has finally dropped. Former Seattle Seahawks running back and Oakland native Marshawn Lynch is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Raiders later today contingent upon completing a physical.
The Oakland Raiders are looking for a power rusher to add to their 2017 roster, and Marshawn Lynch has been looking like a viable option. However, with the NFL Draft quickly approaching, the Raiders need to make a decision soon as to whether they’ll snatch the formerly-retired Seahawks running back or opt for a fresh-faced draft pick. There are still lots of questions up in the air regarding Marshawn’s leverage: How good is he going to be? Is he in football shape? Where will he fit into the Raiders’ offense?
On Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Seahawks are expected to trade Lynch to the Raiders ahead of the 2017 season, assuming they can work out a contract beforehand.
