When Pablo Sandoval left San Francisco to sign with the Boston Red Sox after the Giants won the 2014 World Series, the thought of Sandoval ever returning to don the orange and black was far-fetched.

It was only a matter of time. That was the sentiment expressed among Giants’ fans when the franchise signed 30-year-old infielder Pablo Sandoval to a Minor League contract on July 22.

Earlier this week, Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy said, “When that right times comes, it’ll happen.” For Pablo Sandoval, that right time is now.

On Wednesday afternoon, the key decision-makers with the San Francisco Giants held a meeting to determine how the team would divide up playing time for the foreseeable future.

The 30-year-old infielder signed with a Minor League contract with the Giants on July 22 with the expectation that at some point, his former club would give him an opportunity to prove himself at the Major League level at some point this season.

If the San Francisco Giants were a ship instead of a baseball team, it would be safe to say they hit an iceberg long ago. The days of making Titanic references are well past us, because with a record of 41-67, the Giants ship is already sunk.
