Hunter Strickland already apologized on Instagram to his teammates and fans for putting himself on the shelf Monday night, when he broke his hand punching a door in the clubhouse after blowing a save, knocking him out for six-to-eight weeks. On Thursday he addressed reporters for the first time since the news broke, and took full responsibility for his actions.

Marlins pitcher Dan Straily has been suspended five games (one start), and Marlins manager Don Mattingly has been suspended one game, for hitting Buster Posey with a pitch in Tuesday’s game vs. the Giants. Straily will appeal his suspension according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. Mattingly will not serve his until after Straily returns.

Now Strickland, who already apologized to the fans and his teammates on Instagram, has some time to reflect on where he’ll go from here. Former Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt joined Murph & Mac on Thursday and offered some advice on what Strickland should do during his down time.

Holland said he was unhappy with the location of Dan Straily’s pitch that hit Posey Tuesday, but he didn’t let it affect his performance on the mound.
