Monday night’s matchup between the Braves and the Giants was the first time the National League foes squared off in Atlanta’s recently constructed SunTrust Park, but the shimmying, shaking, floating and fluttering that took place on the new playing surface were familiar sights for both clubs. The outcome? That too was familiar. For the Giants at least.

The 2017 season has been a rough one for the San Francisco Giants. They sit at last place in the NL West with a 26-45 record, 19.5 games out of first place. With the biggest concern entering the season being who would play left field, and much of the 2016 team that made the playoffs back in the orange and black, almost no one saw this sharp of a downfall coming.

We join Murph and Mac in the studio to talk the San Francisco Giants and their recent struggles. The Giants are stuck at the bottom of the NL West with a record of 26-45, trailing only the Philadelphia Phillies for the worst record in baseball.

The San Francisco Giants entered Friday evening’s contest at Coors Field with a Major League-worst 52 home runs. Enter pitcher Jeff Samardzija. In the top half of the fifth inning, Samardzija smoked a fastball from Rockies’ right-hander Antonio Senzatela over the right center field fence at Coors Field to give the Giants a 4-1 lead.

The Giants entered their four-game set against the Rockies this weekend with the worst offense in Major League Baseball. Then, in the span of five minutes, San Francisco lost both of its .300 hitters.

Covering the draft and minor leagues for MLB.com, Jonathan Mayo joined The Audible on Friday morning to discuss the raw power in the Giants first two draft selections, Heliot Ramos and Jacob Gonzalez.

With their eighth round draft choice the Giants selected Cal State Fullerton left-hander John Gavin. The junior southpaw pitcher is a San Jose native who is 8-2 this season with a 2.67 ERA and 89 strikeouts. Gavin went to St. Francis High School and has been a die-hard Giants fan his entire life.
