OAKLAND – For Jordan Bell, the sophomore slump is real.
It’s not even that he’s played worse than he did in his rookie campaign, but it seems like Steve Kerr and Co. have committed to Damian Jones and his tantalizing potential. Bell has posted similar numbers, but the minutes have been sparse for the Oregon product.
Saturday night was different as Draymond Green sat out his second straight game with a sprained toe/foot. Bell played 27 minutes, much more than both Jones and Kevon Looney got.
Early in the game, Bell said the Nets bench had been chirping at him. So when he hit a shot in front of them he had a simple message.
“Shut up,” Bell said. “They was like ‘f— no’ and all this bulls— and I was like ‘shut up man.’ Thats all I said, ‘shut up.’”
Bell explained that the interaction was neither contentious or malicious.
“I know the guys so it was more of a joking thing, but I’ve always wanted to do that. If somebody say something like ‘f— no’ or ‘hell no’ and then going in. We do the same thing on our side on the bench. So it kind of felt good for them to say that to me and make it and turn around and they looking like students. That’s kind of dope.”
Bell went 2-of-4 for five points, seven rebounds and a pair or assists. Playing time will continue to be tough for Bell this year, but he looks confident and at home on the court with the Warriors.
