OAKLAND – Josh Richardson had himself a career night against the reigning back-to-back champs.
Up until the final play of the game, that is.
The Tennessee product poured in a career-high 37 points on the night, including a sizzling hot 8-for-11 night from beyond the arc. So when the Heat had five seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie or win the game, it appeared as though they were running action for the 4th-year vet.
Richardson streaked along the baseline from one corner of the floor to another with Klay Thompson hot on his trail. But before he got to the corner, he stumbled and fell, sliding into the legs of several Warriors players on the bench.
“I was running to the corner for the inbound and I got tripped and slid out of bounds,” Richardson said after the game. “I got held into the bench and nobody called it or saw it so it is what it is.”
What it was, was a 120 – 118 Warrior win; their 15th in the last 16 contests.
“I am not thinking about being happy we were there,” Richardson said. “I wanted to win and we all wanted to win. There were things that was out of control that happened, so I think we did a good job in putting ourselves in a good position.”
