Stephen Curry was clearly hampered by an injury to his right ring finger in the Warriors’ victory over the Lakers on Wednesday. In addition to shooting three rare airballs, Curry dribbled and shot layups almost exclusively with his left hand after the first quarter of the game.
Unfortunately, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed on Thursday that sitting Curry is unlikely to speed up recovery of the finger, and that this is an issue the two-time MVP may have to deal with for an extended period of time.
“It was much more apparent watching the tape than it was live that he was hampered, in terms of his mobility using that right hand,” Kerr said after saying he didn’t notice much discomfort in his post-game session on Wednesday.
“He was forcing things a little bit, trying to stay to his left. It’s not ideal, obviously, but he’s got to do what he’s got to do.
“I think he’ll get used to it. I need to talk to (team performance therapist) Chelsea (Lane) in terms of how long he’s going to have to wear that wrap. But I don’t think it’s something where if we give him a few days off, it’s going to disappear. I think it may linger for a little while, so he’s going to have to get used to it.”

Curry said after the game that the finger hurt, and based on this video taken by Anthony Slater at Warriors shootaround Thursday, it looks like it still is.

Curry is expected to play against the Magic on Friday night.
