In the top half of the fifth inning, Samardzija smoked a fastball from Rockies’ right-hander Antonio Senzatela over the right center field fence at Coors Field to give the Giants a 4-1 lead.

For much of the season, catcher Buster Posey and third baseman Eduardo Nunez have carried a lackluster San Francisco Giants’ offense. And on Thursday night at Coors Field, both players needed help getting down the dugout steps.
